In line with the Agricultural Society of Kenya’s 2025 theme, “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth,” Momul Tea Factory has been at the forefront of promoting sustainable farming practices among its farmers.

Training and Capacity Building

Momul collaborates with various stakeholders, including the Tea Board of Kenya (TBK), Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO), and the Tea Research Foundation of Kenya (TRFK), to provide training on best agricultural practices.

These sessions cover areas such as pruning, fertilization, plucking techniques, and proper tea handling.

Adoption of Climate-Smart Practices

Farmers are encouraged to adopt practices that enhance resilience to climate change, such as water conservation techniques and soil fertility management. By integrating these practices, farmers can maintain productivity while minimizing environmental impact.

Benefits to Farmers

The adoption of climate-smart practices has led to improved yields and quality, translating to higher bonuses for farmers.

For instance, Mzee Henry Too, a long-time tea farmer, reported increased productivity and better financial returns by implementing recommended practices.
